GALAXY Round, First Smartphone With Curved Screen

As promised, Samsung finally actually introduce Android phone with a curved screen. His name is Galaxy Round.

Trends curved OLED display and LCD TV products not only attacked, but also have expanded to Smartphone. Samsung announces GALAXY Round, the world's first Smartphone with a curved screen.

GALAXY Round is equipped Full HD Super AMOLED screen measuring 5.7 inches. The body is quite thin, with a thickness of only 7.9 mm and weighs 154 grams. But it was not able to bend-bend which means not as expected. The resolution is 1080p high definition.

With a curved screen , there are some unique features incorporated in Round Interaction . One is the Roll Effect features that provide convenience to see information such as date, time, missed calls, and the status of the battery when the screen is off. How, you just tilt the Round on a flat surface. No need to press any buttons.

Then there UX Bounce that allows users to control the music when the screen is off. When the music player is running, press the left side the screen will play the previous song while pressing the right side of the screen will play the next song. For other features, it seems pretty much like GALAXY Note 3. Samsung will sell Galaxy Round starts October 10 in Korea. Worth about U.S. $ 1,000 for the Luxury Brown color. There is no information when the Round will be marketed in other countries.

Seen from its unique features, Round seems not offer significant uniqueness compared with a flat-screen Smartphone. I actually hope Samsung (or any other manufacturer) issued a Smartphone with a flexible display that can automatically curve. Back to the curved screen, whether it will be next year's trend of a smartphone? I think we have to wait how application developers and manufacturers take advantage of this unique curved screen so it is not seen as a marketing gimmick only.
